Outstanding Male Athletes

Andy Coy (2013) Most recently, he qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships for his fourth straight year. He was the national runner-up in the men's 1000-meter run at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships last March. He placed fourth in 2012 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field men's 1500-meter run. Coy is a seven-time NAIA All-American athlete at Dakota State. During his impressive collegiate career at DSU, he has earned All-American status four times in Indoor Track and Field and three times in Outdoor Track and Field. He also qualified for NAIA National Cross Country Championships three times during his career, posting his career best-place finisher last November (55th place). He was named to Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Cross Country All-Conference team last fall, making his third Cross Country All-Conference honors at DSU. Coy has excelled both on the track and in the classroom, earning academic recognition in District and National level. He was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 College Division for Cross Country/Track & Field, Capital One Academic All-American First Team and had been named to Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete three times (he will earn his fourth Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete honor later this spring). Andy is the son of Rusty and Cindy Coy of Hill City, S.D. He is a senior Biology major at Dakota State University. |
