SIOUX CITY, Iowa - After Dakota State earned a five-point halftime lead Friday afternoon at the RVSC-Allee Gym, Briar Cliff (Iowa) outscored the Trojans 52-31 in the second-half to earn a 75-59 victory in the Morningside Holiday Classic (sponsored by Sioux City's Downtown Holiday Inn).

Dakota State dropped their overall record to 9-3, all losses against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) foes.  Briar Cliff raised their overall record to 11-5.  Both teams have received votes in the latest NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' 'Top 25' national poll.

The Trojans raced to an 8-0 lead in the first three minutes and 22 seconds of the game.

Dakota State maintained their lead for the rest of the first-half as they held a 28-23 halftime lead.

DSU shot 48 percent from the field (12-for-25) in the first twenty minutes of the game.  Briar Cliff was 9-for-24 (37.5 percent from the field) in the first-half.

The Chargers earned their first lead of the game at 35-34 with 16:13 remaining in the game.

With the game tied at 35-35, Briar Cliff outscored the Trojans 32-9 to grab a 67-44 lead with 6:27 remaining in the game.

BC drained 12 3-pointers in the second-half compared to DSU 2 3-pointers.  The Chargers were 19-for-28 from the field (67.9 percent) and 12-for-17 beyond the 3-point arc (70.6 percent).  Dakota State was 35.5 percent from the field (12-for-34).

Tyrone Gordon, Jr. led the Trojans with 11 points.  He had two assists and two steals.  John Lamb and Yusuf Vinson each added 10 points.  Kevin Danielsen scored seven points off the bench.

Vinson grabbed seven rebounds and stole the ball three times for DSU.  Luke Lamb added six rebounds.

Taylor Murren shot 10-for-15, including 9-for-14 from the 3-point line, to earn 29 points for Briar Cliff.  Jake Shipley added 13 points.  Clay Harreld and Zach Otting each had 11 points.  Otting dished out four assists.

Ricky Torres recorded nine rebounds for the Chargers.  Michael Collison added eight rebounds.

Briar Cliff shot 53.8 percent overall from the field (28-for-52).  The Chargers were 16-for-29 (55.2 percent) from the 3-point line.  The Trojans shot 24-for-59 from the field (40.7 percent) and 5-for-18 from the3-point arc (60 percent).

The Chargers outrebounded DSU 35-28.

BC committed 20 turnovers in the game compared to the Trojans' 13 turnovers.

Dakota State looks to bounce back in the winning column Saturday night.  The Trojans continue their action in the Morningside Holiday Classic against the host-team Morningside.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the RVSC-Allee Gym in Sioux City, Iowa.
