Lady T's hold Jimmies to NSAA season-low points, but fall short 62-52

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Dakota State University Lady T's basketball team faced a nationally-ranked team from Jamestown (N.D.) for the second time in two weeks Wednesday evening at the Civic Center.  The Lady T's held the Jimmies to their season-low total points in NSAA conference games, but fell short by the score of 62-52.

Dakota State fell to 11-17 overall record and 2-7 NSAA conference record.  Jamestown, ranked No. 11 in the latest NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, lifted their overall record to 21-6 and 8-1 NSAA conference record (clinched at least a share of NSAA regular-season conference title).

Leading 15-14 with six minutes and thirty-nine seconds in the first-half, the Jimmies closed the first-half with an 18-7 scoring spurt to earn a 33-21 halftime advantage.

UJ was 10-of-26 from the field (38.5 percent) in the first twenty minutes of the game, but converted 11 of 16 free-throws.  DSU was 9-of-29 shooting from the field (31 percent) and made both free-throw attempts in the first-half.

The Jimmies maintained their double-digit lead for the rest of the game.  The Lady T's outscored Jamestown 31-29 in the second-half.

Courtney Hulstein scored nine points off the bench for Dakota State.  Erin Rabenberg added seven points.  Jayda Swenson, Madison Walford, Sharee Galbraith, BreeAna Olson and Summer Bailey each scored six points.

Galbraith pulled down six rebounds for the Lady T's.  Walford had five rebounds and recorded two blocked shots.  Rabenberg had a block.

Olson dished out three assists for DSU.  Kennedy Wagner added two assists.  Swenson stole the ball twice.

Jessica Buck led the Jimmies with 15 points on her 4-for-8 shooting from the field and 7-of-13 free-throws.  Kyra Dewald added 12 points.  Kadie Savage, Megan Pold, Kaeli Kraska and Jordan Bridges each had six points.

Dewald earned eight bounds for UJ.  Buck added seven rebounds.

Bryn Woodside produced four assists for Jamestown.  Buck and Pold each had three assists.  Dewald recorded two steals.

Both teams struggled from the field, shooting below 40 percent.  The Jimmies shot 39.6 percent overall (21-of-53) compared to the Lady T's 33.9 percent (19-of-56).  UJ was 15-of-24 from the free-throw line (62.5 percent), while DSU was 12-of-15 free-throws (80 percent).

Jamestown outrebounded Dakota State 45-30 in the game.  UJ had 12 offensive rebounds compared to DSU 5 offensive rebounds.

Dakota State head back home Saturday afternoon in the final regular-season game.  The Lady T's host Dickinson State (N.D.) as part of Senior Night.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.  Two DSU seniors – Rabenberg and Swenson – will be recognized after the completion of the game.
