Saints sweep Trojans in NSAA Volleyball action

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) kicked off the second-half portion of the North Star Athletic Association volleyball conference schedule Tuesday evening, visiting Presentation (S.D.) at Strode Center.  The Saints posted a three-set sweep over the Trojans by the scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-19.

Dakota State fell to 7-17 overall record and 2-7 NSAA conference record.  Presentation snapped their losing skid to improve to 4-21 and 1-10 record in North Star conference play.

Clarissa Blick and Carly Rozell each smashed nine kills for the Trojans.  Blick surpassed her 1,000th career kill milestone after accumulating a total of 806 kills in her first two years at Ashford (Iowa) and 197 kills this season with DSU.  Tessa Weeldreyer added six kills.  Kirstin Johnson had five kills.

Kaylee Vander Wal produced 14 assists and collected 7 digs for Dakota State.  McKenna DeMoe contributed 12 assists.  Hannah Bauer recorded two service aces.

Chelsey Davis had a match-high 20 digs for the Trojans.  Blick added 12 digs.  Johnson registered two block assists.

Mallori Rabenberg led the Saints with nine kills.  Katie Nelson added eight kills.  Maria Nightingale had seven kills.

Abigail Wahl tallied a double-double of 15 set assists and 11 digs for PC.  Maddie Goetz added 12 assists and recorded three service aces. 

Natasha Lee led the Saints' defense with 18 digs.  Rabenberg had 17 digs.  Michaela Kranz recorded three block assists.

Presentation outhit Dakota State 38-34 in the match.  The Saints hit .189 (15 errors in 122 attempts) compared to the Trojans' .071 hitting efficiency.  PC had six team blocks while DSU had three team blocks.

Dakota State returns back home at DSU Fieldhouse with two NSAA conference matches this weekend.  The Trojans host Mayville State (N.D.) on Friday evening at 7 p.m. and Valley City State (N.D.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
