Sioux Falls (S.D.) defeats Lady T's 70-46 in DSU?s exhibition game

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) played an exhibition game Tuesday evening at the Stewart Center, visiting former long-time member of the South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference (SDIC) and current NCAA Division II member Sioux Falls (S.D.).  The Cougars defeated the Lady T's by the score of 70-46.

Dakota State remains at 1-6 overall record.  Sioux Falls, a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), remaining undefeated at 4-0 record.

After the Cougars' 2-0 lead, the Lady T's knotted the game at 2-2 after a lay-up by Britley Plautz with eight minutes and ten seconds on the clock.  USF went on a 14-2 scoring run to grab a 16-4 lead with three minutes to go in the first period.

DSU's Kelley Criddle made a lay-up just before the first quarter expired, cutting Sioux Falls' lead to 21-10.  USF was 10-of-16 from the field (62.5 percent) in first 10 minutes compared to the Lady T's 5-of-17 field goals (29.4 percent).

The Cougars outscored Dakota State 15-6 in the second quarter, expanding USF's lead to 36-16 by halftime.

Sioux Falls led 58-32 by the end of the third quarter before the Lady T's outscored the Cougars 14-12 in the final period.

BreeAna Olson led Dakota State with 13 points.  Jamie Tebben scored nine points.  Plautz and Kennedy Wagner each added eight points.  Shemika Frazier and Criddle each tallied four points.

Olson and Plautz each pulled down eight rebounds for the Lady T's.  Tebben had five rebounds.  Wagner and Jordan Hansen each produced three assists. 

Plautz recorded five blocks in the game for DSU.  Hansen added two blocks.  Tebben stole the ball twice.

Four USF players scored in double digits, led by Sam Knecht with a double-double of 16 points and earned 13 boards.  Madi Robson added a double-double of 11 points and registered 10 assists.  Brooke Smith had 11 points.  Jacey Huinker had 10 points.

Huinker earned seven rebounds for the Cougars.  Smith stole the ball six times.  Knecht had five blocks and four steals.

USF shot 40.8 percent from the field (29-of-71) compared to DSU 31.6 percent (18-of-57).  The Lady T's made 10 free-throws in 12 attempts (83.3 percent), while the Cougars were 9-of-17 free-throws (52.9 percent).

Sioux Falls outrebounded Dakota State 46-42. 

Dakota State prepares for the upcoming North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) conference schedule next Friday (Dec. 2).  The Lady T's kick off the conference schedule with a four-game road trip, starting at Presentation (S.D.) with a game time starting at 5:30 p.m.  The game will be held at the Strode Center in Aberdeen, S.D.
