Trojans eclipse 100-point mark in victory over Trinity Bible (N.D.)

MADISON, S.D. – Six Dakota State (S.D.) Trojan men's basketball players scored in double figures Tuesday evening, dominating Trinity Bible (N.D.) 103-61 at DSU Fieldhouse.  Every Trojan recorded at least three points, grabbed two rebounds and recorded an assist in the game.

Dakota State moved back to .500 with an overall record of 4-4.  It was an exhibition game for Trinity Bible.

The Lions earned its first lead of the game after a 3-pointer made by Giovannhi Kassar with 18 minutes, 17 seconds on the clock.  TBC held their lead for nearly four minutes before DSU overtook the lead for the read of the game.

Trailing 5-4, the Trojans scored eight straight points (3-pointer by Justin Folkers and two straight baskets by Keeon Johnson) to open up a 12-5 lead with 15:19 left in the first-half. 

DSU continued its scoring spurt, ballooning their lead to 22-9 with 12:41 on the clock after a 3-pointer by Josh McGreal.  The Lions could get no closer than seven points at 24-17 as the Trojans closed the first-half with a 42-29 lead.

Dakota State shot 45.7 percent from the field (16-of-35) in the first twenty minutes of the game while holding Trinity Bible to 26.5 percent shooting (9-of-34 field goals).

The Trojans started the second-half by making 6-of-6 field goals to widen their lead to 56-36 with 16:25 remaining.  DSU maintained their lead for the rest of the second-half, outscoring TBC 61-32.

Dakota State was hot from the field in the final twenty minutes of the game, shooting 63.2 percent from the field (24-of-38) which included 11-of-19 from the 3-point line.  Trinity Bible was 12-of-30 from the field (40 percent in the second-half).

Folkers led the Trojans with 20 points (8-of-11 field goals).  Johnson added 18 points (8-of-13 field goals).  McGreal scored 17 points off the bench (7-of-10 field goals).  Bobby Farquah posted a double-double of 11 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.  Falcon Albers tallied 12 points.  Maurice Arrington had 11 points. 

Kevin Daniels dished out a game-high 11 assists and stole the ball three times for DSU.  Brady Elder added six assists.  Albers and Farquah each had three assists.

Daniels collected eight rebounds for Dakota State.  Folkers had seven rebounds and recorded four blocked shots in the game. 

Kassar led the Lions with 19 points and two steals.  Tash Williams added 17 points, while Logan Klitzke had 13 points.  Klitzke and Williams each had six rebounds.  Korey Harris produced nine assists. 

Dakota State shot 54.8 percent overall from the field (40-of-73) compared to Trinity bible 32.8 percent (21-of-64).  The Trojans drained 17 3-pointers in 35 attempts (48.6 percent), while the Lions were 8-of-28 3-pointers. 

TBC converted 11-of-17 free-throws (64.7 percent).  DSU was 6-of-11 from the free-throw line (54.5 percent).

The Trojans dished out a season-high 31 assists in the game.  DSU outrebounded TBC 51-31.

Dakota State outscored Trinity Bible 14-2 in fast-break opportunities, 26-10 in points off turnovers and 42-18 inside the paint.

DSU concludes their four-game home stand next Tuesday, hosting No. 18-ranked Briar Cliff (Iowa).  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at DSU Fieldhouse.
