No. 8 ranked Tigers dominate Lady T's in South Dakota NAIA Classic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Nationally-ranked No. 8 Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) rolled to a 106-45 women's basketball victory over Dakota State (S.D.) on the second day of the South Dakota NAIA Basketball Classic Sunday at the Sanford Pentagon's Heritage Court. 

The Lady T's fell to 1-3 overall record while the Tigers remained undefeated with 3-0 overall record.

DWU raced to a 30-4 lead after the first quarter.  The Tigers shot 59.1 percent from the field (13-of-22 field goals) while holding the Lady T's to one basket in ten attempts. 

Dakota Wesleyan outscored Dakota State 25-15 in the second quarter to extend their lead to 55-19 at halftime.  The Tigers maintained their lead throughout the game, securing the victory.

Kennedy Wagner led the Lady T's with 13 points.  Cassie Jones added nine points.  Alison Scheetz scored seven points.  Britley Plautz tallied five points.  Raven Patton grabbed seven rebounds.  Jamie Tebben and Plautz each had five rebounds.

Wagner dished out two assists for DSU.  Patton stole the ball three times and recorded two blocked shots.  Leah Marsh and Plautz each had a blocked shot.

Jessica Mieras led the Tigers with 15 points.  Amber Bray and Makaela Karst each added 13 points.  Ashley Bray had 11 points.  Rylie Osthus and Kynedi Cheeseman each tallied 10 points.  Cheeseman produced five assists.  Osthus registered six steals. Chesney Nagel pulled down 10 rebounds. 

Dakota Wesleyan shot 49.4 percent overall from the field (43-of-87) compared to Dakota State 29.5 percent field goal shooting (13-of-44).  The Tigers were 7-of-24 from the 3-point line, while the Lady T's were 4-of-15 3-pointers.

DSU was 15-of-18 at the free-throw line (83.3 percent).  DWU made 13-of-15 free-throws (86.7 percent).

The Tigers outrebounded the Lady T's 46-31.

Dakota State looks to bounce back in the winning column as they return home for a brief two-game home stand.  The Lady T's host Kansas Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at DSU Fieldhouse.  Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
