Eagles shut down Trojans in second softball game Friday in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – Dakota State (S.D.) was limited to one hit in the second game of the tripleheader Friday afternoon versus Judson (Ill.), dropping a 14-0 five-inning contest as part of the Tucson (Ariz.) Softball Invitational game at Lincoln Park North.

DSU fell to 9-10 overall record, while Judson improved to 13-4 overall record.

The Eagles scored their run in the first three innings to earn the victory.  JU scored three times in the first inning and added six runs in the second inning for a 9-0 lead.  Judson scored five times in the bottom third frame to stretch their lead to 14-0.

Kaysea Luna recorded a single in the game for the Trojans.  Jasmin Lucero, Peyton Brokiewicz and Kelly Drake each reached on base by a walk.

Skye Osborne was 2-of-3 at the plate with a home run, double and recorded four RBIs.  Kate Peterburs added two doubles and drove in three runs.  Skye Osborne had two hits and four RBIs.

The Eagles tallied 16 hits in the game.  DSU committed six defensive errors compared to JU none.  Judson left seven runners on base while the Trojans had four runners left on base.

Drake (L, 3-6) recorded the loss in the pitching circle for Dakota State.  She worked for three innings and allowed nine runs (four unearned) on nine hits.  Luna tossed one inning in relief, giving up five runs (three unearned) on seven hits.

Elizabeth Walker (W, 6-2) posted the victory on the pitching mound for Judson.  She pitched four scoreless inning and limited the Trojans to one hit.  Osborne tossed a scoreless fifth inning in relief.

Dakota State looks to swing back in the winning column as they conclude their Friday's tripleheader with a nightcap game versus Arizona Christian at Lincoln Park North field in Tucson.
