OMAHA, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) was unable to hold on to their slim 68-66 lead Saturday evening at D.J. Sokol Arena, falling to Nebraska Christian by the score of 78-68. The Sentinels shut down the Trojans by using a 12-0 closing run to secure their first win of the season.
Dakota State dropped their overall record to 0-2.
DSU and NCC battled back and forth throughout the game, with the lead no bigger than seven points. The Sentinels had the biggest lead of the game at 16-9, but the Trojans rallied back with an 11-3 run to regain their lead at 21-20.
NCC led 38-33 at halftime. The Sentinels outscored the Trojans 40-35 in the final twenty minutes of the game.

Dakota State plays in the annual South Dakota/NAIA Basketball Pentagon Classic next weekend. The Trojans take on No. 17-ranked Dakota Wesleyan on the first day of the tournament next Saturday (Nov. 3) at 8 p.m. DSU plays Mount Marty (S.D.) on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m.
