Lady T's roll to an 80-53 non-conference victory at Grace (Neb.)

OMAHA, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) held Grace (Neb.) to 26.3 percent from the field Friday evening at Jim Classen Gymnasium, rolling to an 80-53 road victory.  It was the final non-conference game of the season for the Lady T's.

Dakota State improved their overall record to 12-17.  Grace fell to 14-13 overall record, ending their three-game winning streak.

The Lady T's shook off their slow start in the first quarter with a slim 17-16 lead before outscoring the Royals 19-9 in the second quarter.  DSU held a 36-25 halftime advantage, thanks to their 9-0 run in the final 2:37 of the first-half.

Dakota State shot 36.1 percent from the field in the first twenty minutes (13-of-36 field goals) compared to Grace 27 percent (10-of-37 field goals). 

The Royals kicked off the third period with a 9-0 run to cut the Lady T's lead down to 34-32 with 8:04 on the clock.  The Lady T's then answered with a 14-4 outburst to widen their lead to 48-36 after a 3-pointer by Shelby Vogel with 4:11 left in the third.

A pair of free-throws by Alexis Evans put the Lady T's up 56-43 by the end of the third quarter.

The Lady T's outscored the Royals 24-10 in the final quarter to secure the victory. 

DSU scored 44 points in the second-half, while holding GU to 28 points.  Dakota State shot a blazing 50 percent from the field (17-of-34 field goals) compared to Grace 25.6 percent (10-of-39 field goals).

Kennedy Wagner led the Lady T's with game-highs 15 points and dished out 8 assists.  Evans scored 14 points off the bench (4-of-5 field goals and 6-of-6 free-throws).  Lindsey Vogl tallied 12 points.  Jamie Tebben had 10 points.  Raven Patton recorded eight points.  Vogel and Britley Plautz each had six points. 

Patton pulled down nine rebounds and registered three blocks in the game for DSU.  Tebben and Evans each added eight rebounds.  Evans and Cassie Jones each had two blocked shots. 

Vogel produced three assists for the Lady T's.  Tebben stole the ball three times.

Karen Orozco led the Royals with 17 points and three steals.  Darielle Evans had 11 points.  Alyssa Strickland scored 10 points.

Marisa Brown tallied eight points and collected eight rebounds for GU.  Evans had seven rebounds, two steals and a block.  Tschida Johnson registered two blocks and three steals.

Dakota State shot 42.9 percent overall from the field (30-of-70 field goals).  Grace was 20-of-76 field goals.  The Lady T's were 8-of-26 3-pointers, while the Royals were 6-of-26 3-pointers.

DSU was 12-of-14 from the free-throw line (85.7 percent).  GU converted 7-of-12 free-throws (58.3 percent).

The Lady T's outscored the Royals 42-22 inside the paint, 28-5 in second-chance points and 35-5 in bench points.

Dakota State closes out their regular-season Saturday afternoon, visiting Bellevue (Neb.) in a North Star contest.  Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. at Gordon Lozier Athletic Center in Bellevue, Neb.
