TUCSON, Ariz. – Siena Heights (Mich.) limited Dakota State (S.D.) to two hits Friday, cruising to a 9-0 non-conference softball action at Lincoln Park Field No. 4 as part of Tucson (Ariz.) Invitational.
Dakota State fell to 4-10 overall record. Siena Heights improved to 4-5.
After a scoreless inning in the first inning, the Saints exploded for five runs in the bottom second. SHU added three runs in the third and a run in the fourth inning.
Xitlali Lopez had a double for Dakota State. Peyton Brokiewicz tallied a single. Tatum Ronke had a sacrifice hit.
Kristi Carlson smashed a home run and drove in four runs for Siena Heights. Taylor Mowery added two hits and two RBIs. Ashley Helmink registered a double and an RBI.
SHU outhit DSU 13-2 in the game. The Saints left five runners on base while the Trojans had two runners left on base.
Audrey Kosman (L, 0-4) recorded the loss as she gave up eight runs on ten hits in three innings for Dakota State. Stefani Gollin tossed the fourth inning in relief, giving up one run on three hits.
Ward (W, 1-2) pitched a complete game victory for Siena Heights. She yielded two hits.
Dakota State faces another Michigan team, Aquinans (Mich.) at Lincoln Park.Â
