Lady T's lose final non-conference game at Mount Marty (S.D.)

YANKTON, S.D. – Mount Marty (S.D.) of the Great Plains Athletic Conference shot a blazing 63.8 percent from the field, cruising past Dakota State (S.D.) in the final non-conference women's basketball contest at Cimpl Arena.  The Lancers completed the season series sweep over the Lady T's, including their first meeting at the Sanford Pentagon last November.

Dakota State fell to 4-23 overall record.  Mount Marty improved to 15-13 overall record.

Both teams exchanged leads four times and recorded two ties in the first four-plus minutes of the game.  A 3-pointer by Ashlyn Macdonald (assisted by Jessi Giles) gave the Lady T's its first lead of the game at 7-6 with 7:08 on the clock in the first.

With DSU leading 9-8, the Lancers closed the first quarter on an 10-0 run in the final 5:55 of the first quarter to earn an 18-9 lead.  The Lancers shot 8-of-10 from the field in the first-quarter while the Lady T's were 4-of-14 field goals.

Mount Marty outscored Dakota State 29-16 in the second quarter to widen their lead to 47-25.  The Lancers only missed eight shots in the first-half, converting 19 baskets in 27 attempts (70.4 percent).  MMC was 6-of-12 from the 3-point line.  DSU was 9-of-25 from the field (36 percent) and 1-of-7 from the 3-point arc.

MMC maintained their double-digit lead for the rest of the game.  The Lancers outscored the Lady T's 26-24 in the third quarter.  Both teams scored 19 points in the final quarter.

Taylor Volesky led Dakota State with 14 points (5-of-8 field goals and 4-of-5 free-throws).  Giles added 13 points (4-of-6 field goals and 5-of-5 free-throws).  Alexis Robson tallied 12 points (3-of-5 field goals and 4-of-4 free-throws).  Macdonald scored eight points and pulled down four rebounds.  Olivia Breske had seven points off the bench.

Kelley Criddle registered two blocks for the Lady T's.  Giles contributed three assists and stole the ball twice.  Robson and Alexis Evans each had two assists.

Sammy Kasowski went 10-of-11 from the field to pace the Lancers with 21 points.  Karlee McKinney added 16 points (7-of-10 field goals).  Jamie Tebben had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists.  Ali Kuca scored 13 points.   Shelby Fasching had 10 points off the bench.  Peyton Stolle stole the ball twice. 

Mount Marty shot 37-of-58 from the field and 7-of-20 from the 3-point line.  Dakota State was 23-of-57 from the field (40.4 percent) and 5-of-15 3-poiinters (33.3 percent).

The Lady T's converted 17-of-22 free-throws (77.3 percent0 while the Lancers were 13-of-17 free-throws (76.5 percent). 

MMC outrebounded DSU 33-19 in the game.

Dakota State wraps up their regular-season schedule Saturday as they conclude their four-game road trip.  The Lady T's travel to Gordon Lozier Center to take on Bellevue (Neb.) in the North Star Athletic Association conference contest.  Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. in Bellevue, Neb.
