DSU and VCSU earn another NSAA baseball doubleheader split

March 29, 2021

MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) and Valley City State (N.D.) earned another North Star Athletic Association baseball doubleheader split on a warm, windy Monday at Flynn Field.  The Trojans held off the Vikings' late comeback in the final inning of the first game, collecting a 12-11 victory.  VCSU closed the series by rallying back with four runs to take the series finale for a 9-7 come-from-behind win.  Both games were seven innings.

Dakota State is 9-9 overall record, while Valley City State is 9-16 overall record.  Both teams are 2-2 record in North Star contests.  It was the first time since the 2016 season that the Trojans earned at least two wins in the four-game series on the NSAA conference season opening weekend.

The Trojans' nine-inning non-conference contest versus Mount Marty (S.D.) scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed due to cold weather forecast.  DSU is scheduled to travel to Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) on Wednesday evening for a nine-inning game.  First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Cadwell Field.
