PERU, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) completed its final preseason tournament tune-up with a perfect 4-0 record, rolling past host-team Peru State (Neb.) in three straight sets Saturday afternoon at Al Wheeler Activity Center. The Trojans won by the scores of 25-12, 25-14, and 25-16.
Dakota State won their fourth straight game to lift their overall record to 6-2, their best eight-match start during head coach Amy Veenhof's coaching era at DSU. The Trojans did not lose a set in the tournament, winning all 12 sets. Peru State fell to 2-10 overall record.
DSU remains on the road as they kick off the North Star Athletic Association play Wednesday evening. The Trojans travel to Gordon Lozier Center to take on the defending regular-season champion and No. 12 ranked Bellevue (Neb.). First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Bellevue, Neb.

- Trailing 2-1 in the opening set, Dakota State used a 6-0 scoring run highlighted by a kill and two service aces by Sydney Schell along with a kill by Hannah Viet and Maddie Polzin for a 7-2 lead.
- Leading 18-12, the Trojans closed the first set with a 7-0 scoring tear for a 25-12 victory. The Trojans recorded a kill by three different hitters (Polzin, Hannah Viet, and Madalyn Groft) along with a service ace by Schell.
- DSU outhit PSC 11-6 in the opening set. The Trojans hit .207 (5 errors in 29 swings) and held the Bobcats to .000 hitting percentage (6 errors in 30 attempts).
- Holding a 13-9 lead in the second set, Dakota State went in a 9-3 run highlighted by back-to-back kills by M. Groft for a 23-11 lead.
- Riley Grandpre and M. Groft registered a block assist to close the second set for a 25-14 victory, extending their match lead to 2-0.
- Tied at 13-13, Dakota State widen their lead to 24-14 after using an 11-1 monstrous run. Peru State committed six attack errors during DSU's scoring run, including five consecutive errors.
- Maddie Polzin smashed a kill to secure a 3-0 DSU victory after a 25-16 set three win.
- Schell led the Trojans with a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs. She hit .455 in the match and registered five service aces. M. Groft added nine kills, seven assists, and five digs.
- Nicole Sarringar produced a double-double of 20 set assists and 14 digs for Dakota State. Peyton Groft had 12 digs. Polzin had seven kills and six digs. Riley Grandpre had three blocks.
- Paige Crouch and Alexandra Chavarria each had five kills for the Bobcats. Cassie Davis had 10 set assists and seven digs. Mattie Nicholas tallied 11 digs, while Cheyenee Birkle had 10 digs.
- Dakota State outhit Peru State 33-20 in the match. The Trojans hit .216 (14 errors in 88 attempts). PSC was held to a negative .040 hitting percentage (24 errors in 101 swings).
