WATERTOWN, S.D. – Third-seeded Dakota State (S.D.) was unable to hold on to their 3-2 lead in the bottom seventh inning Friday in the North Star Athletic Association Softball Postseason Tournament's loser's out game versus fourth-seeded Dickinson State (N.D.). Dallis Mitchell drilled a 2-RBI double to deep left field with one out as the Blue Hawks rallied back for a 4-3 victory.
Dakota State ended their softball season with an overall record of 19-26. It was the second straight season that the Trojans recorded 19 victories. The Trojans also produced its first ever North Star regular season winning record at 13-10 and received it highest seeding in the NSAA postseason tournament since the league was formed in 2013-14.
Dickinson State moved to the next loser's out game and was eliminated by fifth-seeded Mayville State (N.D.) 11-3 in five innings. The Blue Hawks ended their season at 20-26 overall record after their setback to the Comets.

- Rhea Paiva reached safely on base caused by DaSU's defensive error to start the bottom first for DiSU. She advanced to second after a sacrifice bunt by Mitchell.
- Ari Martinez followed up with a single, advancing Paiva to third base. The Trojans committed a defensive error to allow Paiva to score home for a 1-0 Blue Hawks lead.
- Dickinson State added another run in the bottom second frame. Kennedy Kuntz was hit-by-pitch with one out. She swiped to second and advanced to third base after DaSU's wild pitch.
After Emilie Sickler reached on base by a walk, Paiva produced an RBI single to score Ke. Kuntz as the Blue Hawks ballooned their lead to 2-0.- Dakota State snapped its scoring drought with a pair of runs in the top fifth frame. With Lia Chan on second base with two outs, Sarah Torres hit an RBI single to score Chan as the Trojans trailed 2-1.
- Torres swiped to second base for DaSU in the top fifth. Mackenzie Sims followed up with an RBI single to score Torres as the Trojans knotted the game at 2-2.
- Sims advanced to second base on the throw on the same play for the Trojans but was tagged out at third base advancing as the Blue Hawks ended the top fifth inning.
- Dakota State prevented Dickinson State to score in the bottom fifth after a lead-off triple by Paiva.
- Michelle Evdos led off the top sixth inning with a single. Madison Aldendifer hit a double down the left field line to advance Evdos to third base. Angela Slattery was hit-by-pitch to set up a bases loaded situation for the Trojans.
- Folkers hit an RBI single to center field and scored Evdos as the Trojans earned a 3-2 lead with one out.
- The Trojans were unable to convert their scoring chances in the top sixth inning, despite leaving the bases full.
- Pinch hitter Madison Stephens (for Kamryn Kuntz) kicked off the bottom seventh with a walk for DiSU. Sickler was struck out by bunt for the first out.
- Paiva reached safely on base caused by Trojans' defensive miscue. Mitchell drilled a 2-RBI walk-off double to score Ka. Kuntz (re-entry in the game for Stephens) and Paiva for a 4-3 thrilling victory.
- Dakota State outhit Dickinson State 7-5 in the game. The Trojans left eight runners on base compared to the Blue Hawks five runners left on base.
- Torres led the Trojans by going 2-of-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run score. She collected three assists defensively, extending her all-time school record of 315 assists.
- Evdos added two singles, a walk, and run scored for DaSU. Aldendifer had a double. Sims and Folkers each collected a hit and an RBI.
- Paiva had a triple, single, RBI and scored two runs for DiSU. Mitchell had a double and two RBIs. Marintez and Katelyn Kubitschek each tallied a hit.
- Slattery (L, 9-9) took the defeat in the pitching circle for Dakota State. She tossed 6 1/3 innings and allowed four runs (two unearned) on five hits. She registered three strikeouts.
- Mitchell (W, 9-10) pitched a complete game victory for Dickinson State. She yielded three runs (two unearned) on seven hits. She recorded five strikeouts.
