DSU's Slaathaug earns 2023 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete award

NAIA PRESS RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athletes Thursday.  The 2023 list features 542 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

Sophomore guard Ethan Slaathaug was named to the prestigious academic national award for Dakota State.  He was 32-of-66 from the field in 2022-23 season for the Trojans (48.5 percent).  He averaged 4.3 points per game.

Slaathaug, a native of Hayfield, Minn., majors in business finance at Dakota State University.
