Caleb Sayler of Dakota State (S.D.) was honored by the North Star Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for the second time this season, the conference announced their fourth installment of the cross-country weekly honors Tuesday.
Sayler was the top North Star Athletic Association runner in the men's 8K race on Sept. 27 in the NCAA Division I cross-country meet, the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. There were nearly 400 runners in the packed meet from all collegiate levels, including NAIA's Top 25 ranked teams.
He finished 74
th overall in the race, which will be the site of this coming NAIA Cross Country National Championships on Nov. 22 in Columbia, Mo. He clocked a personal record time of 25 minutes, 28.4 seconds, which is the 14
th fastest time in the DSU men's 'Top 30' times record book.
Caleb is a senior exercise science major at Dakota State University.
Dakota State takes a week off before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 12. The Trojans return to Sioux Center, Iowa, for the Defenders Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Dordt (Iowa). The women's race starts at 10 a.m., followed by the men's race at 10:45 a.m.
