Deveon Moses of Dakota State (S.D.) was honored by the North Star Athletic Association for the second time this season, naming as the conference's Defensive Player-of-the-Week. The eleventh edition of the football weekly honors were announced Monday.
Moses, a 6-footer and 180 lbs. junior corner back from Houston, Texas, caught two interceptions in the game to help Dakota State shut down Mayville State (N.D.) 7-0 at Jerome Berg Field in Mayville, N.D., on Nov. 9. He caught his first interception of the game in the early second quarter.
The Trojans secured the victory as Moses caught his second interception of the game late in the fourth quarter. He intercepted MSU Dylan LaMont's pass on DSU's 46-yard line as the Trojans maintained possession with 2:21 remaining in the game. DSU secured their second straight victory and secured a winning record season for the third time in the last four seasons after using up the remaining 2:21 of possession.
Moses leads the North Star Athletic Association in interceptions with seven this season, which is tied for second most interceptions in a single season in the Trojan football school record book.
Moses also tallied two tackles in the game for DSU.
Dakota State lifted their overall record to 6-3 after the victory at Mayville State. The victory also secured second place outright in the North Star conference standings, currently at 4-3 league record.
DSU wraps up their 2024 football season Saturday afternoon, visiting No. 15 ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) in the battle of top two teams in the North Star conference. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m. (Central Time)/12 p.m. (Mountain Time) at Biesiot Activities Center in Dickinson, N.D.
