BROOKINGS, S.D. – Two Dakota State (S.D.) competed on the second day of the indoor track & field season opener, the South Dakota State Holiday Invitational & Multi-Events at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
Casey Olson kicked off the pentathlon in the 60-meter hurdles, tallying 621 points after clocking a time of 10.50 seconds. She cleared the high jump of 1.36 meters (4 feet, 5.5 inches) in the next event, scoring 470 points.
Olson produced a pair of personal records in the next two pentathlon events. She tossed 10.73 meters (35 feet, 2.5 inches) for 577 points in the shot put, followed by a mark of 4.60 meters (15 feet, 1.25 inches) for 454 points in the long jump for the Trojans.
She finished the 800-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 13.04 seconds for 253 points.
Olson racked up a career best 2,375 points in the pentathlon for DSU. She scored the seventh most pentathlon points in school history. She is currently 17
th in the NAIA women's pentathlon standings.
Lilly Young competed in a rare indoor field event, throwing the discus for the Trojans. She posted the seventh farthest in DSU women's indoor track & field history with 31.99 meters mark (104 feet, 11 inches).

Madelyn Sylva will be running in the NAIA Marathon Classic for Dakota State Sunday morning. The marathon takes place at the California International Marathon in Sacramento, Calif. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. (Central Time)/7 a.m. (Pacific Time).
