BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Dakota State University Trojan women's indoor track & field made their 2024-25 season debut Friday afternoon at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex, competing in the South Dakota State Holiday Invitational & Multi-Events. Local NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA schools competed in the two-day indoor track & field meet.
Dakota State scored 21 points in the team standings after the first day out of 20 teams listed.
Lindsey Roth highlighted the Trojans with a runner-up honor in the 1-mile run with a time of 5 minutes, 28.73 seconds. Her time is the ninth fastest in the DSU women's indoor track & field school record book.
Saddie Palmquist added a time of 6 minutes, 7.66 seconds to place 12
th.
Bella Maxwell threw a personal record 15.32 meters (50 feet, 3.25 inches) to place fourth in the weight throw for DSU. Her toss is the sixth farthest in the school record book.
Kiana Mounga added a personal best 14.05 meters (46 feet, 1.25 inches).
Gabriella Peitzmeier registered 13.47 meters (44 feet, 2.5 inches).
A pair of DSU throwers made their collegiate debut –
Lilly Young with 12.91 meters weight throw toss (42 feet, 4.25 inches) and
McKenna McIlravy with 11.16 meters (36 feet, 7.5 inches).
Alivia Bickett also made her collegiate debut with a toss of 11.02 meters (36 feet, 2 inches) in the shot put for the Trojans. Young added 9.90 meters shot-put toss (32 feet, 5.75 inches).
Raylee Wallis posted the fourth fastest 400-meter dash time in school history for the Trojans, clocking a personal best 59.24 seconds to finish third in the race.
Molli Thornton added a fourth-place finish after hitting the seventh fastest time in 1 minute, .24 seconds.
Thornton also added the third fastest time in DSU women's indoor 200-meter school record book, placing seventh in the race in 26.05 seconds.
Amelie Steins added 26.79 seconds, followed by
Bethany Lawson 27.71 seconds,
Averie Marshall 28.27 seconds, and
Bridget Bartling 29.46 seconds.
Thornton leaped 4.78 meters (15 feet, 6.25 inches) to place 11
th in the long jump for Dakota State.
Steins clocked a time of 8.14 seconds in the 60-meter dash qualifying. Marshall clocked a time of 8.26 seconds, followed by Bartling in 8.61 seconds, and
Shakiera Gronenthal in 9.09 seconds. Lawson clocked a time of 8.16 seconds in the 60-meter dash prelims.
Gronenthal posted a personal best 300-meter dash time of 48.21 seconds.
Kierra Miller wrapped up the first day in the 3000-meter run, placing ninth with a time of 11 minutes, 21.76 seconds.
