MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State's sophomore infielder
Aidan Perry was selected by the North Star Athletic Association as the Player-of-the-Week award, the seventh edition of the conference weekly honor was announced Monday.
Perry recorded at least two hits and scored at least a run in all four games, fueling the Trojans to their North Star Athletic Association four-game series sweep over Dickinson State (N.D.) at Flynn Field on April 5-6.
Dakota State remained undefeated at home this season with an 8-0 record, extending their home winning streak to 13 games. The Trojans outscored the Blue Hawks 62-22 during the four-game series, scoring double digits runs in all four games.
He opened the four-game series by going 2-for-2 at the plate with a home run, single, and drove in four runs in DSU's 17-4 victory. He finished the day by going perfect 3-for-3 in the second game with an RBI, stolen base, and a run score in Trojans' 11-3 victory.
Perry went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored four runs in DSU's 21-6 game three victory on April 6. He closed the four-game series by going 2-for-4 with two home runs and collected five RBIs in 13-9 victory for the Trojans.
Dakota State's Perry produced a batting average of .692 (9-for-13 at the plate) for the week. He also posted a slugging percentage of 1.385 with three home runs and collected 11 RBIs. He scored nine times and reached base by a walk twice. He finished the week with 18 total bases.
According to the NAIA-PrestoStats as of Monday, Perry ranks fifth in the North Star Athletic Association in overall batting with .373. Prior to this weekend's contests, he is 44-of-118 at the plate with 35 RBIs and produces a slugging percentage of .585.
Dakota State carries their 28-9 overall record and 11-1 North Star conference record Friday and Saturday as they continue their action. The Trojans visit Valley City State (N.D.) in the NSAA's four-game series at Charlie Brown Stadium in Valley City, N.D. The doubleheader starts at 1 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
