MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has tabbed Dakota State's (S.D.) senior
Caleb Sayler as the Men's Runner-of-the-Week, the second edition of the conference's cross-country weekly honors were announced Tuesday.
Sayler led the Trojans with a time of 26 minutes, .3 seconds in the Dordt (Iowa) Sunflower Open. He finished eighth overall in the 8K race with a total of 91 runners in the field. It was the first 8K race this season for DSU (Sayler finished with a time of 20 minutes, 8.01 seconds in a 4-mile race in the Augustana Twilight meet on Sept. 6).
Dakota State finished second overall as a team in the Dordt Sunflower and was the top South Dakota team place finisher. The Trojans edged NCAA Division II Sioux Falls (S.D.) by eight points (70-78), while Mount Marty (S.D.) was fourth in the team standings with 94 points.
Caleb, a native of Lennox, S.D., majors in exercise science at Dakota State University.
Dakota State is off this week and will return to action on Friday, Sept. 27. The Trojans run in the NCAA Division I meet, Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. The cross-country meet will be the site of this year's NAIA Cross Country National Championships in mid-November.
