DICKINSON, N.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) scored at least 20 points in each quarter Friday evening, cruising to their 10
th consecutive victory with an 87-51 North Star Athletic Association road victory over Dickinson State (N.D.) at Scott Gymnasium. The Trojans extended their winning streak in the series meeting to 18 games over the Blue Hawks (eighth road victory at Scott Gymnasium).
Dakota State, ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 national poll, raised their overall record to 12-3 and remained undefeated in the North Star conference play at 4-0 record. The Trojans ballooned their NSAA conference winning streak to 19 games.
DSU's 10-game winning streak is tied for seventh longest winning streak in the school record book with the 2019-20 and 1981-82 squads. It was the fifth straight season that Dakota State had produced at least 10 consecutive winning streak.
Dickinson State fell to 5-10 overall record and 0-4 NSAA conference record. Both teams will play their second NSAA conference meeting at DSU Fieldhouse on Jan. 26.
Dakota State closes their first-round robin of NSAA conference play Saturday afternoon, visiting No. 24 ranked Jamestown (N.D.) in the battle of NAIA's Top 25 nationally ranked teams. The game tips off at 3 p.m. at Harold Newman Arena in Jamestown, N.D.

Dickinson State kicked off the game by scoring five straight points to open a 5-0 lead in the first one minute and seventeen seconds, ignited by a 3-pointer from Anhelica Shanrock followed by a pair of free-throws by Samantha Oase.
Dakota State then outscored DiSU 25-8 for the remainder of the first quarter, thanks to their 50 percent field goal shooting (10-of-20 field goals).
Hamtyn Heinz made a basket to give the Trojans a 25-13 lead after the first quarter. The Blue Hawks were 5-of-14 from the field (35.7 percent) in the first ten minutes of the game.
DSU maintained their double digits lead for the rest of the game. Leading 36-21,
Angela Slattery and
Lilli Mackley fueled the Trojans' 9-0 second quarter closing run. Mackley capped the scoring run with a 3-pointer to give Dakota State a 45-21 halftime lead.
The Trojans outscored the Blue Hawks 20-8 in the second quarter.
DSU outscored DiSU 21-14 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 66-35. Dakota State shot 8-of-16 from the field (50 percent) in the third period, while Dickinson State was 6-of-17 field goals (35.3 percent).
Brooke Gunderson completed a 3-point play to give the Trojans the biggest lead of the game at 85-48 with 2:27 remaining.
Dakota State scored 21 points in the fourth period compared to Dickinson State 16 points. The Trojans shot a blazing 53.3 percent from the field in the final ten minutes (8-of-15 field goals).
Four Trojan starters scored in double digits, paced by
Tabor Teel with 18 points. She was 8-of-16 from the field and made both free throws. She had seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Mackley added 15 points (5-of-5 free throws) and pulled down eight rebounds.
Slattery scored 14 points and collected five rebounds for Dakota State.
Bria Wasmund had 13 points, two assists, and two steals.
Olivia Ritter tallied nine points off the bench (4-of-5 field goals).
Kenzi Simmons had eight points and two steals. Heinz had five points.
Angelina Chapple recorded six rebounds and a block.
Oase had 12 points and five rebounds for the Blue Hawks. Shanrock added eight points. J'ell Garfield had seven points off the bench.
DSU was 47.8 percent overall from the field (32-of-67 field goals) and held DiSU to 35.5 percent (22-of-62 field goals). The Trojans hit nine 3-pointers in 28 attempts (32.1 percent), while the Blue Hawks were 5-of-15 3-pointers.
Dakota State converted 14 free throws in 19 attempts. Dickinson State made two free throw attempts.
The Trojans outrebounded the Blue Hawks 46-34.
DSU outscored DiSU 18-4 in points off turnovers and 12-7 in second chance points.
