KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dakota State (S.D.) returned inside the NAIA Women's Volleyball Top 25 national rankings Wednesday morning. The Trojans made a return to No. 24 ranking, the same ranking from the first edition of the national poll. DSU also expanded their streak to 13 consecutive appearances to the national poll.
Dakota State scored 66 more points from the previous national poll, where the Trojans were listed in the receiving votes (RV) section. The Trojans tallied 81 points to earn No. 24 ranking with an overall record of 13-6.
DSU (13-6 overall record) was 7-3 record in the last 10 matches, despite a 3-2 home setback to current No. 7 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) (16-3 overall record, 12-2 Frontier) in a five-set thriller at DSU Fieldhouse on Oct. 8. Dakota State is 9-5 record in the league after sweeping Bismarck State (N.D.) and Dickinson State (N.D.) last weekend, improving to 8-1 record at home in conference play (all eight conference wins resulted in 3-set sweeps).
Providence (Mont.) (21-1 overall record, 14-0 Frontier) moved to No. 2 in the national poll with an overall record of 21-1, thanks to their 20-match winning streak. Carroll (Mont.), MSU-Northern, and Montana Tech were listed in the receiving votes (RV) section of the national poll.
Dakota State heads to Montana for their next four matches in the Frontier Conference play. The Trojans begin their road trip at Rocky Mountain (Mont.) Sunday, followed by another road contest at Carroll on Monday. DSU takes the day off on Tuesday before heading to Montana Tech next Wednesday and Montana Western next Thursday.
The Trojans come back to South Dakota on Monday, Oct. 27, for their final non-conference match at rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.). DSU closes out their home schedule on Halloween versus Providence and Senior Day on Nov. 1 versus MSU-Northern.
