DSU men’s basketball wins second straight game, defeats Wisconsin-River Falls

Trojans held Falcons to 14 second-half points to pull away for 12-point victory on the road

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Dakota State (S.D.) locked down defensively and used a strong second-half surge to pull away for a 55-43 road victory over NCAA Division III Wisconsin–River Falls in the men's basketball non-conference action at Don Page Arena on Saturday evening. The Trojans held the Falcons to just 14 points after halftime and won the rebounding battle decisively in improving to 2–0 on the season.

It was an exhibition contest for Wisconsin-River Falls.

The game was tight early, with DSU leading 30-29 at halftime. But the Trojans clamped down defensively after the break—UWRF shot just 4-of-26 from the field and 0-for-11 from beyond the arc in the second half. Dakota State also used timely interior scoring to stretch the lead to as many as 12 points late.

Key Performers – Dakota State Dakota State shot 44.9% overall and scored 32 points in the paint, while limiting River Falls to 32% shooting and just 3-of-22 from three-point range. The Trojans also forced 12 turnovers and converted 9 steals on the night.
