GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Two Dakota State (S.D.) made their first appearance at the 2025 U.S. Marines NAIA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship Friday. The three-day national meet is being hosted at Alachua County Sports and Events Center at Celebration Pointe.
Kiana Mounga competed in the weight throw for the Trojans after hitting the NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying mark at the North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field National Championships on Feb. 16 in Brookings, S.D. She tossed 15.54 meters (51 feet) on her first toss and improved to 15.71 meters (51 feet, 6.5 inches) on her second attempt.
She recorded 14.72 meters (48 feet, 3.5 inches) on her third weight throw attempt and did not advance to the finals. Mounga finished 17
th overall in the field of 22 throwers for Dakota State.
RayLee Wallis was placed in the third heat of the 400-meter dash for the Trojans. She finished with a career best time of 58.49 seconds, placing fourth in the heat. Her time is the third fastest in the DSU women's indoor track 400-meter dash school history.
Wallis finished 14
th overall in the field of 20 runners and did not advance to the finals.
Dakota State women's indoor track & field season officially ended Friday at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships. The Trojans open their outdoor season one month later March 28-29 as they travel to Wayne, Neb., for the two-day Wildcat Classic hosted by NCAA Division II Wayne State (Neb.).
