MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) captured an women's individual event title Friday afternoon at the Mount Marty (S.D.) Last Chance in the Ruth Donohoe Fieldhouse. It was the last regular season indoor track & field meet before they prepare for the 2025 North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Bella Maxwell posted a personal record 16.13 meters (52 feet, 11 inches) to win the weight throw title for the Trojans. It was the third farthest mark in the DSU women's indoor track & field school record book.
Gabriella Peitzmeier followed up with a fourth-place finish after throwing 15.48 meters (50 feet, 9.5 inches).
Kiana Mounga threw 14.21 meters (46 feet, 7.5 inches) to place tenth in the weight throw for DSU.
Rebecca Hazlett produced a personal record 13.42 meters (44 feet, .5 inches).
Lilly Young registered 13.31 meters toss (43 feet, 8 inches), followed by
McKenna McIlravy with 11.02 meters (36 feet, 2 inches).
Mia Mather improved her personal record 10.00 meters (32 feet, 9.75 inches).
Oliviyah Thornton earned a runner-up honor in the shot put, tossing a personal record 13.18 meters (43 feet, 3 inches). Her mark is the fourth farthest mark Trojan women's indoor track & field school record book. Maxwell posted her season best 12.14 meters (39 feet, 10 inches) to place third, followed by Young with a seventh-place finish after throwing a season best 11.23 meters (36 feet, 10.25 inches).
Madelyn Sylva also placed second in the 1-mile run for Dakota State. She clocked a time of five minutes, 40.21 seconds.
Saddie Palmquist placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a season best 2 minutes, 32.70 seconds.
Alyssa Koffler clocked a time of 11.44 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Averie Marshall recorded a time of 8.37 seconds in the 60-meter dash prelims, followed by
Bridget Bartling with a time of 8.45 seconds, and
Casey Olson with a time of 8.65 seconds.
Olson was seventh in the 400-meter dash in 1:11.64. Koffler followed up with an eighth-place finish with a season best time of 1:11.79.
Marshall posted a time of 28.79 seconds in the 200-meter dash for DSU. Bartling added a season best time of 28.89 seconds, followed by
Shakiera Gronenthal in 30.22 seconds, and Olson with a personal record 30.34 seconds.
The day wrapped up with the distance medley relay with
Kierra Miller,
RayLee Wallis,
Anna Schneider, and
Lindsey Roth. They finished with a time of 12:54.10.
Dakota State is preparing for the final ever North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday, Feb. 16. The first events are scheduled for 10 a.m. at Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D., on the campus of NCAA Division I South Dakota State.
