LINCOLN, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) wrapped up their women's indoor track & field regular season schedule on the second day of the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division I University of Nebraska at Devaney Center Indoor Track. Numerous NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and junior colleges competed on the second day of the indoor track & field meet. The Trojans highlighted with two new school records.
Molli Thornton clocked a time of 25.98 seconds in the 200-meter dash for DSU. Her time is the season best and fourth fastest time in the DSU indoor 200-meter dash school history.
Anna Schneider placed seventh in the 600-meter run with a new DSU women's indoor track time of 1 minute, 37.77 seconds. She broke the previous record holder by Stephanie Uher with a time of 1:38.19 in 2013.
Lindsey Roth finished the 1-mile run with a time of 5 minutes, 29.29 seconds for the Trojans.
Brooke Beaucaire clocked a career best time of 10 minutes, 46.23 seconds in the 3000-meter run for DSU. Her time is the eighth fastest in the DSU women's indoor track & field school record book.
The Trojan women's 4 x 400-meter relay team established a new school record for the second time this season. The relay members of
Amelie Steins,
RayLee Wallis, Schneider, and Thornton posted a time of 4 minutes, .79 seconds, which was the team's season best time. The previous school record was set in the University of South Dakota Invitational on Jan. 18 by the same relay members.
Dakota State prepares for the final ever North Star Athletic Association Indoor Track & Field Championships next Sunday (Feb. 16). The indoor track & field conference meet takes place at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, S.D., on the campus of NCAA Division I South Dakota State. First events are slated for 10 a.m.
