April 21, 2025

MADISON, S.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) has selected Dakota State's (S.D.) Nicholai Arbach as the Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week, the eighth edition of the conference baseball weekly honors were announced Monday by the conference office.  It was the second time this season that he had received the award.

Arbach, 6-foot-9 right-handed pitcher, tossed his fifth straight complete game for the Trojans during Seniors Weekend at Flynn Field last weekend.  He pitched a two-hitter game in DSU's 1-0 victory over No. 24 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) in the four-game series opener on April 18.

The Trojans handed the Bruins their first conference setback of the season, as well as their 17-game winning streak.  Arbach did not issue a walk in the game and registered nine strikeouts (11.57 strikeouts per nine innings).

He closed the game by striking out the first two batters in the top seventh inning, followed by picking up a ground ball and ran to first base for a unassisted put-out.  He ended his pitching home career at the Flynn Field with the victory.

Arbach leads the North Star Athletic Association with 71 strikeouts this season for the Trojans.  He is second in the NSAA conference with 2.27 earned runs average (13th in the NAIA's ERA) and tied for fourth most pitching wins in the league.  He is 6-3 record on the pitching mound with eight complete games this season for the Trojans.

Nicholai is a senior business management major at Dakota State University.

Dakota State (21-21 overall record, 7-9 NSAA conference record) plays their final regular season contests Friday and Saturday at Scott Berry Field in Mayville, N.D.  The Trojans visit Mayville State (N.D.) in the NSAA's four-game series, playing a doubleheader on Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at 12 p.m.
