YANKTON, S.D. – Two Dakota State (S.D.) women's athletes captured an individual title Wednesday at the Mount Marty (S.D.) Twilight meet at Williams Field. The outdoor track & field meet features NCAA Division I, II, and local NAIA schools.
Casey Olson notched her second javelin title this season, winning with a mark of 39.51 meters (129 feet, 7 inches) for the Trojans.
Rebecca Hazlett posted a personal record of 36.84 meters (120 feet, 10 inches) to finish third. Her mark is the fourth farthest in the DSU women's outdoor javelin school history.
Bella Maxwell posted a career best 50.15 meters (164 feet, 6 inches) to place fifth in the hammer throw for DSU. Her hammer throw is the third farthest in school history, just falling .80 meters short of meeting NAIA B' provisional qualifying mark.
Gabriella Peitzmeier was 10
th after tossing 47.94 meters (157 feet, 3 inches), followed by
Kiana Mounga with a personal record 46.13 meters (151 feet, 7 inches) toss (eighth farthest in school history).
Lilly Young threw 36.65 meters (120 feet, 3 inches), while
McKenna McIlravy recorded 32.48 meters (106 feet, 6 inches).
Maxwell was third in the shot-put, throwing 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8.75 inches) for the Trojans.
All three DSU throwers produced personal records in the discus, led by Peitzmeier with 38.91 meters toss (127 feet, 8 inches). Young threw 37.16 meters (121 feet, 11 inches), while McIlravy recorded 29.85 meters (97 feet, 11 inches).
Caitlin Dyer placed ninth in the 400-meter dash after registering a time of 1 minute, 2.81 seconds. Valeria Curikova recorded a time of 1:09.62. She also clocked a time of 5 minutes, 11.89 seconds in the 1500-meter run.
Alyssa Koffler clocked a personal record time of 17.99 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles for Dakota State. She added a time of 1:21.36 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Averie Marshall clocked a personal record time of 12.85 seconds to finish 10
th in the 100-meter dash.
Bethany Lawson followed up with a personal best time of 12.93 seconds to place 11
th.
Bridget Bartling recorded a time of 13.30 seconds.
Marshall was also 10
th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.89 seconds, followed by Lawson 12
th with a time of 27.09 seconds. Bartling registered a time of 27.89 seconds in the race.
Madelyn Sylva ran a time of 20 minutes, 34.15 seconds in the 5000-meter run for the Trojans.
Brooke Beaucaire wrapped up the meet by winning the 10,000-meter run with a personal record time of 38 minutes, 37.05 seconds. Her time is the second fastest in the DSU women's outdoor 10,000-meter run history.
Dakota State will be taking 13 athletes to the 115
th annual Drake Relays Thursday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. Anna Schnieder,
Kierra Miller,
Saddie Palmquist, and
Lindsey Roth will start the meet with the 4 x 800 relay at 4:30 p.m.
