VERMILLION, S.D. – The Dakota State (S.D.) University Trojan women's track & field returned to Lillibridge Track Complex Saturday for the second day of the NCAA Division I meet, the University of South Dakota Early Bird Invitational. The outdoor track & field meet featured numerous athletes from all collegiate levels from NCAA Division I to NAIA.
DSU highlighted with four runners in the top seven of the 800-meter run, led by
Lindsey Roth with a fourth-place finish with a time of 2 minutes, 29.07 seconds.
Kierra Miller followed up with a fifth-place finish in 2:32.06 and
Saddie Palmquist sixth with a time of 2:35.04.
Brooke Beaucaire registered a personal record time of 2:36.73 to finish seventh in the race.
Gabriella Peitzmeier threw 47.20 meters (154 feet, 10 inches) to finish eighth in the hammer throw for Dakota State.
Lilly Young tossed 40.35 meters (132 feet, 4 inches).
Rebecca Hazlett recorded 40.20 meters mark (131 feet, 10 inches), followed by
McKenna McIlravy with a 34.46 meters toss (113 feet).
Molli Thornton placed ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 1.34 seconds for the Trojans.
Ella Carstensen added 15
th place finish with a time of 1:03.39 in her 400-meter dash debut.
Carstensen leaped 10.43 meters (34 feet, 2.75 inches) in the triple jump. Olson registered a leap of 9.69 meters (31 feet, 9.5 inches).
Amelie Steins led Dakota State with 5.13 meters (16 feet, 10 inches) long jump mark and placed 12
th. Thornton recorded 4.82 meters mark (15 feet, 9.75 inches), while
Casey Olson added 4.68 meters mark (15 feet, 4.25 inches).
Olson clocked a time of 17.76 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
Bridget Bartling registered a time of 13.24 seconds in the 100-meter dash, followed by
Averie Marshall with a time of 13.29 seconds.
Bethany Lawson led the Trojans with a time of 27.79 seconds in the 200-meter dash. Marshall finished with a time of 28 seconds, followed by Bartling with a time of 28.46 seconds. Olson clocked a time of 29.92 seconds in the race, while
Alyssa Koffler finished with a time of 29.95 seconds.
Dakota State heads to Mankato, Minn., next Saturday for the Minnesota State-Mankato Open.
