VERMILLION, S.D. – The Dakota State University Trojan women's outdoor track & field team closed their regular season schedule Saturday on the second day of the NCAA Division I meet, the University of South Dakota Tune Up. The meet was held at Lillibridge Track Complex on the campus of USD, featuring NCAA Division I teams (Summit League teams), Division II, and NAIA's Bellevue (Neb.).
The 4 x 400-meter relay team of
Amelie Steins,
Anna Schneider,
Molli Thornton, and
RayLee Wallis improved their school record time with a time of 3 minutes, 57.27 seconds to place fourth in the race. They were two-plus seconds shy of hitting NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying time.
Steins posted the season best long jump mark of 5.30 meters (17 feet, 4.75 inches) for the Trojans.
Casey Olson produced the NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying mark in the javelin for DSU. She registered a mark of 40.44 meters (132 feet, 8 inches) to place fourth.
Rebecca Hazlett added 35.89 meters (117 feet, 9 inches).
Olson hit a personal record time of 17.51 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.
Alyssa Koffler added 18.29 seconds in the race.
Lindsey Roth clocked a season best time of 2 minutes, 24.90 seconds in the 800-meter run for the Trojans.
Averie Marshall recorded a time of 13.00 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Bethany Lawson and
Bridget Bartling each followed up with a time of 13.16 seconds. Bartling added a time of 27.79 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
Ella Carstensen leaped 10.77 meters (35 feet, 4 inches) in the triple jump for DSU.
Gabriella Peitzmeier led the Trojans with 48.43 meters mark (158 feet, 10 inches) to place 11
th in the hammer throw.
Bella Maxwell added 46.40 meters (152 feet, 2 inches), followed by
Kiana Mounga with a 45.96 meters mark (150 feet, 9 inches).
Lilly Young threw 41.14 meters (134 feet, 11 inches), while
McKenna McIlravy hit a personal best 36.17 meters (118 feet, 8 inches).
Dakota State prepares for the postseason action as they head to Dickinson, N.D., for the final ever North Star Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The two-day conference meet is being hosted by Dickinson State (N.D.) at Biesiot Activities Center.
