MADISON, S.D. – The 2025 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Senior starting pitcher
Sam Tyrpa was named to the to the Academic All-District® Baseball team for the second straight year, announced on June 3.
Tyrpa, a native of Excelsior, Minn., was a two-time North Star Athletic Association All-Conference First Team starting pitcher in 2023 and 2024. In addition, he earned the NSAA Pitcher-of-the-Year and NAIA Baseball All-America Honorable Mention awards in 2023.
He finished the 2025 season with an earned run average of 4.81 and 5-6 pitching record in 67 1/3 innings for the Trojans. He also registered 65 strikeouts.
Tyrpa holds the top two single season school records in strikeouts with 99 in 2024 and 98 in 2023 for the Trojans. He holds the all-time school record of 262 strikeouts from 2023-25.
He tied the all-time school record of 36 starts with
Nicholai Arbach. Tyrpa is also third all-time with 21 pitching victories.
Tyrpa received the NAIA Baseball Scholar Athlete and North Star Scholar Athlete awards for their academic success in the classroom.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Tyrpa advanced to CSC Academic All-America® national ballot, which will be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1.
