MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Trojan women's basketball head coach David Moe is excited to announce the hiring of Jacob Strand as the assistant coach.

"The DSU women's basketball is very excited and lucky to have Coach Strand come on board," said Moe.  "He brings great positive energy, a strong background of skill development and a desire to learn and grow as a person and coach in the program."

Strand is no stranger to DSU after serving as the graduate assistant for the Trojan men's basketball team during the 2024-25 season.  The Trojans advanced to the North Star Athletic Association Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament's semifinal round.

He also served as the developmental men's basketball coach in 2024-25.

"Coach Strand also comes from a very similar system to how what we run at DSU, so he will hit the ground running, and we shouldn't skip a beat," added Moe.

Strand, a native of Glyndon, Minn., played college basketball at Mayville State (N.D.) from 2020-24.  He graduated from MSU with a bachelor's degree in coaching along with a minor in sports management.

Strand is continuing his master's studies at Dakota State University in educational technology.
