DSU volleyball begins 2025 season in receiving votes of NAIA Top 25 national poll

Dakota State (S.D.) is one of the seven Frontier Conference teams in the national poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dakota State (S.D.) kicked off the 2025 season in the receiving votes (RV) section of the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Top 25 national poll, announced Wednesday morning by the national office.

The Trojans extended their streak to nine straight national poll, listing in the receiving votes section since Aug. 14, 2024 (2024 NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll).  DSU is ranked No. 31 with 31 points.

Dakota State is coming off from an 18-13 overall record last season, which included an appearance to the final ever North Star Athletic Association postseason tournament's championship match.  The Trojans qualified for the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament for the third time in the past six seasons.

The Trojans enter their new conference era, the Frontier Conference with 12 full-time institutions.  The Frontier Conference set a record with seven teams listed in the NAIA Women's Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 national poll.

Bellevue (Neb.) is ranked No. 2 after finishing as the national runner-up last season, followed by Providence (Mont.) at No. 10 and Montana Western at No. 11.  Montana Tech is ranked No. 17.

Carroll (Mont.) and Valley City State (N.D.) are listed in the receiving votes section.

The NAIA defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan is the No. 1 in the preseason poll.

Dakota State officially kicks off their 2025 season in the Siouxland Invitational next weekend.  The Trojans face Missouri Valley at 2 p.m. and William Penn (Iowa) at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22, followed by another pair of matches on Aug. 23 versus Doane (Neb.) at 1 p.m. and Bethany (Kan.) at 3:30 p.m.

DSU hosts an alumni scrimmage at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, held at the DSU Fieldhouse.
