DSU starts season at 4-0 record with 12 straight sets wins, best start in Coach Veenhof's coaching era

August 23, 2025

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. – The Dakota State (S.D.) University volleyball team capped off a strong opening weekend with another sweep, this time taking down Bethany (Kan.) in three straight sets (25-15, 25-15, 25-17) at the CNOS Fieldhouse. The Trojans moved to 4-0 overall, while the Swedes dropped to 0-4.

It was the fifth straight year that Dakota State played in the Siouxland Tournament held at CNOS Fieldhouse, the first time that the Trojans finished the same tournament undefeated.  In addition, it was the first time in head coach Amy Veenhof coaching era that DSU started the season with a 4-0 record.

Set 1 Highlights
The Trojans jumped out quickly behind Maddi Langerock's setting and strong swings from Tristyn Maras and Halle Bruflat. DSU hit .382 as a team and rolled to a 25-15 win.

Set 2 Highlights
Bethany battled early, but Dakota State's balanced offense proved too much. Sophie Tuttle tallied multiple kills and digs, while Maras and Macey Wathen added timely points. DSU closed it out 25-15.
