DSU women’s cross country gain more votes to 2025 NAIA national poll

Trojans sit at No. 26, listing in the receiving votes (RV) section

September 25, 2025

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dakota State (S.D.) gained more votes to the first edition of the 2025 NAIA Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 national poll, announced by the national office Thursday morning.

After collecting seven points in the preseason national poll last month, the Trojans scored 73 mores to record 80 points in the first edition.  Dakota State was just one spot shy of cracking into the NAIA's Top 25 national poll (three points shy of No. 25 Shawnee State, Ohio, with 83 points).

Two other Frontier Conference schools were listed on the national poll.  Montana Tech moved one spot from No. 23 to No. 22 with 139 points.  Carroll (Mont.) fell out of the NAIA's Top 25 national poll and currently sits at No. 29 with 67 points.

Dakota State is coming out from a pair of impressive performances, producing the highest place finisher in the NCAA Division II Augustana Twilight meet on Sept. 5 (6th place).  The Trojans also placed second in the Sunflower Open, hosted by NAIA's nationally ranked Dordt (Iowa), on Sept. 13.

DSU returns to action on Oct. 4 as they run in the Briar Cliff (Iowa) Invitational in North Sioux City, S.D.  The Trojans also return to Sioux Center, Iowa, for the second time this season on Oct. 11, competing in the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Dordt.

The Frontier Conference Cross Country virtual media day is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 8.  Stay tuned to the conference's website on fcsports.org for the cross-country virtual media day.
