DSU women’s soccer plays first road matches, home finale Saturday

Dakota State (S.D.) heads to Marshall, Minn., and Sioux City, Iowa, this week before home finale on Saturday

MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Trojan women's soccer team plays their first road matches of the season.  DSU is scheduled to play three matches during the week, with two matches being on the road followed by a home finale at Dan Beacom Track & Field.

The Trojans visit NCAA Division II Southwest Minnesota State (0-0 overall record) in Marshall, Minn., Sunday with a 1 p.m. kick-off.  The match is set to be played at Mattke Field at the Schwan Regional Event Center (1501 State Street).  DSU plays their second road match at Briar Cliff (Iowa) (1-3 overall record) on Wednesday at Faber Field (1650 1/2 Plum Creek Rd) in Sioux City, Iowa, at 1 p.m.

Dakota State closes out their 2025 home schedule on Saturday as they welcome Northwestern (Iowa) (2-2 overall record) at Dan Beacom Track & Field.  Kick-off is set for 5 p.m.

Trojans' five-match home stand
  • Dakota State enters its inaugural season, led by head coach Todd Stank, assisted by Alec Rathje.
  • The Trojans closed a five-match home stand on September 3 with a 4–0 loss to Morningside (Iowa), dropping to an 0–4–1 overall record.  DSU recorded their first tie in program history with a 1-1 score with Midland (Neb.) on Aug. 30.

1. at Southwest Minnesota State – Sunday, Sept. 7 (Away)
  • Opponent context: SMSU begins their regular season and hosts DSU on Sunday at 1 p.m. after a pair of scrimmages.  SMSU enters Sunday with a 0–0 record.  SMSU is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
2. at Briar Cliff (Iowa) – Wednesday, Sept. 10 (Away)
  • Opponent context: The Chargers are 1-3 overall record before entering the match on Wednesday versus the Trojans.  Briar Cliff, a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, is coming off from a 4-1 home setback to No. 21 ranked Central Methodist (Mo.) on Sept. 3.
3. vs Northwestern (Iowa) – Saturday, Sept. 13 (Home)
  • Opponent context: Dakota State faces their seventh opponent from the Great Plains Athletic Conference on Saturday, versus Northwestern (Iowa).  The Red Raiders are 2-2 overall record after their 3-1 victory at Avila (Mo.) on Sept. 6.
