SEWARD, Neb. – Dakota State (S.D.) captured five women's indoor track & field event titles at the Concordia (Neb.) Friday at Walz Fieldhouse. A new school record and a pair of NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying marks also highlighted the day.
Oliviyah Thornton continued to throw NAIA 'B' provisional qualifying marks after winning both titles at the meet for the Trojans. She established a new school record in the shot put after tossing 14.10 meters (46 feet, 3.25 inches), breaking the previous school record held by Traia Hubbard with 14.01 meters (45 feet, 11.75 inches) set in 2020. Thornton's shot-put toss is currently ranked No. 3 in the NAIA after Friday's meets.
Bella Maxwell added a fourth-place finish in the shot put with 12.44 meters mark (40 feet, 9.75 inches).
Hadley Hollenbeck produced a personal record 11.17 meters (36 feet, 7.75 inches), followed by
Alivia Bickett with 11.02 meters toss (36 feet, 2 inches), and
Emily Dvorak with 9.42 meters throw (30 feet, 11 inches).
Thornton added the weight throw title after throwing 17.13 meters (56 feet, 2.5 inches) for Dakota State.
Lilly Young added a personal best 14.54 meters (47 feet, 8.5 inches) to place eighth. Maxwell added 13.52 meters toss (44 feet, 4.25 inches), followed by
Aaliyah Bertelsen 13.36 meters (43 feet, 10 inches), Bickett 13.16 meters (43 feet, 2.25 inches), Dvorak – 11.10 meters (36 feet, 5 inches), and
McKenna McIlravy 10.72 meters (35 feet, 2 inches).
Anna Schneider won the 600-meter run title after running a time of 1 minute, 39.84 seconds.
The Trojans placed three runners in the top three in the 1-mile run, led by
Lindsey Roth with the winning time of 5 minutes, 27.87 seconds.
Kierra Miller was second in 5:34.86, followed by
Madelyn Sylva third in 5:35.53.
Valerija Curikova clocked a career best time of 18 minutes, 20.25 seconds to win the 5000-meter run title for DSU. Her time is the fourth fastest in the Trojan women's indoor track & field school record book.
Brooke Beaucaire added a time of 18 minutes, 37.46 seconds to place second (7
th fastest in the DSU record book).
Averie Marshall recorded a time of 8.24 seconds to place sixth in the 60-meter dash prelims.
Natalie Stoks was 8.32 seconds, followed by
Bridget Bartling 8.34 seconds. Marshall placed fourth in the finals, improving her time of 8.20 seconds.
Amelie Steins led the Trojans with a time of 26.06 seconds for a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash. Stoks added a time of 28.04 seconds, Marshall in 28.40 seconds, and
Taneaja John in 28.72 seconds.
Steins registered the second fastest time in the 60-meter hurdles prelims in 8.90 seconds.
Casey Olson added a time of 9.76 seconds to place sixth, followed by John seventh in 9.91 seconds.
All three hurdlers competed in the finals, led by Steins with a second-place finish in 8.91 seconds. Olson improved her time to 9.67 seconds to finish fifth, followed by John seventh in 9.97 seconds.
RayLee Wallis earned third place in the 400-meter dash after running a time of 59.49 seconds.
Molli Thornton leaped 5.10 meters (16 feet, 8.75 inches) for a third-place finish in the long jump. Olson added a sixth-place finish after jumping 4.99 meters (16 feet, 4.5 inches). Stoks recorded 4.90 meters jump (16 feet, 1 inch).
M. Thornton added 10.07 meters leap (33 feet, .5 inches) to finish sixth in the triple jump.
Adow Thyab cleared the high jump mark of 1.46 meters (4 feet, 9.5 inches) in her collegiate debut at Dakota State.
Presli White, Roth, Sylva, and Miller closed the day in the 4 x 400-meter relay, finishing third with a time of 4 minutes, 25.74 seconds.
Dakota State returns to Seward next weekend for the two-day Concordia (Neb.) Track & Field Classic. The two-day indoor track & field meet will feature multi-events on the first day, starting at 2 p.m.
