MADISON, S.D. – Make it seven times this season for Dakota State's (S.D.) senior forward
Tabor Teel as the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week award, the fifteenth edition of the basketball weekly honors were announced Monday by the conference office.
Teel was selected as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the sixth time this season for the Trojans.
She continued to be a defensive force in fueling No. 7 ranked DSU to a pair of Frontier Conference home victories last weekend, extending their winning streak to nine games. She averaged double-double for the weekend with wins over No. 23 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) and (RV) Carroll (Mont.). DSU raised their overall record to 21-3 and 16-2 record in the league.
Teel grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds (12 defensive rebounds) in Dakota State's 69-62 win over RMC on Feb. 8. Her 18 rebounds tied for seventh most single-game rebounds in school history. She followed up with 13 rebounds, with 12 being defensive rebounds in Trojans' 70-34 win over CC.
The Trojans held Carroll their season low in total points (34) and limited them to 22.2 percent from the field.
For the week, Teel averaged 15.5 rebounds per game (12.0 defensive rebounds), 1.5 steals, and 1.0 block per game. She also averaged 13.5 points per game.
Teel is second in the Frontier Conference with 10.9 rebounds per game for the Trojans. She is also third in the league with 15.8 points per game and fifth in field goal percentage (50.5 percent). Teel leads the conference with 95 total assists.
Tabor is a native of Colton, S.D. She majors in business marketing at Dakota State University.
Dakota State continues their Frontier Conference as they travel to Montana for a pair of contests. The Trojans visit Montana Western on Friday evening in Dillon and No. 13 ranked Montana Tech on Saturday evening in Butte. Both games are set for 6 p.m. (Central Time)/5 p.m. (Mountain Time).
