LINCOLN, Neb. – Nine Dakota State (S.D.) women's athletes competed on the first day of the NCAA Division I Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational at Bob Devaney Center on the campus of University of Nebraska. The two-day indoor track & field meet features athletes from all collegiate levels from NCAA Division I to NAIA schools.
Casey Olson kicked off the pentathlon with 812 points in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.48 seconds. She followed up with a 1.48 meters mark in the high jump (4 feet, 10.25 inches) for 599 points.
She threw 11.67 meters in the shot put (38 feet, 3.5 inches) for 639 points for DSU. Olson leaped 4.86 meters (15 feet, 11.5 inches) in the long jump for 522 points.
She did not compete in the final event of the pentathlon (800-meter run), finishing with 2,572 points for the Trojans.
Oliviyah Thornton continued to throw NAIA national qualifying mark, hitting 17.49 meters (57 feet, 4.75 inches) to place 12
th in the weight throw. She was the top NAIA place finisher in the event.
Bella Maxwell produced a personal record 16.31 meters (53 feet, 6.75 inches) to finish 16
th. Her toss is the fifth best in DSU women's indoor track & field school history.
Kiana Mounga threw 14.98 meters (49 feet, 1.75 inches).
Amelie Steins tied her personal record time of 8.89 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, which also tied a school record set earlier this season. She was just one place shy of advancing to the finals after finishing ninth.
RayLee Wallis clocked a time of 59.62 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
Lindsey Roth added a time of 5:22.88 in the 1-mile run for the Trojans.
Molli Thornton leaped 4.89 meters (16 feet, .5 inches) in the long jump for DSU. She registered a time of 8.04 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
Averie Marshall recorded a time of 8.25 seconds in the 60-meters.
Dakota State continues their action on the second day of the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Saturday. DSU will also compete in the Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) Alumni Meet in Mitchell, S.D. Both meets are set to start at 11 a.m.
