SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) earned their first Frontier Conference softball victory Saturday afternoon on a warm, sunny Sanford Sports Complex with Mayville State (N.D.). The Trojans earned a 7-4 game one victory before the Comets closed the day with a 6-2 win in the second game. MSU earned a 3-1 series victory over DSU.
Dakota State is 7-15 overall record and 1-3 record in the Frontier Conference contests. Mayville State is 9-13 overall record and 3-1 record in the league.
Game 1: Dakota State (S.D.) 7, Mayville State (N.D.) 4 – FINAL
Mayville State struck first in the opening inning on an RBI single by Lindsey Tulla, but Dakota State answered immediately to tie the game 1-
1.
Dakota State took its first lead in the second inning on an RBI fielder's choice by
Brenley Goebel. After Mayville State regained a 3-2 advantage in the third, the Trojans responded with the game's biggest swing—
Alexia Hayden's three-run home run—to jump ahead 5-3.
The Comets pulled within one run in the fifth inning, but Dakota State added insurance runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Alexis Resseguie delivered an RBI single, and
Emmalynn Rabe capped the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth to extend the lead to 7-4.
Bricker shut down Mayville State over the final two innings to preserve the victory.

Dakota State's balanced attack saw seven different players record hits, while the pitching staff limited Mayville State to just eight hits.
Game 2: Mayville State (N.D.) 6, Dakota State (S.D.) 2 - FINALÂ
After two scoreless innings, Mayville State broke through in the third with two runs, highlighted by an RBI single from Madison Terres.
Dakota State answered in the bottom half of the inning when
Hannah McFarland delivered a two-RBI double to tie the game at 2-2.
However, Mayville State regained control in the middle innings. A sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 3-2, and Madison Terres' two-run home run in the fifth extended the lead to 5-2.
The Comets added an insurance run in the seventh, while Dakota State was unable to generate further offense despite multiple baserunners late in the game.
