MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) and Dickinson State (N.D.) split another Frontier Conference baseball doubleheader Sunday afternoon at Flynn Field. The Blue Hawks rallied back in the top seventh inning and held on to a 7-6 win over the Trojans. Dakota State answered by closing the four-game series with a 12-4 victory in a nine-inning game.
Both teams split their four-game series over the weekend; however, Dakota State won the season series 3-2 over Dickinson State (defeated DiSU in the Frontier Jamboree season opening weekend at Sanford Sports Complex in Sioux Falls, S.D., last month).
Dakota State is 16-21-1 overall record and 8-7-1 record in the league. Dickinson State stands at 18-20 overall record and 5-10 Frontier Conference record.

Game 1: Dickinson State 7, Dakota State 6 – FINAL
Dickinson State used a dramatic seventh-inning grand slam to rally past Dakota State 7-6 in the opener.
Dakota State struck first in the bottom of the first inning when
George Hogan delivered an RBI single to score
Aidan Perry. Dickinson State answered in the second on a solo home run by Moses Dokes to tie the game.
The Trojans regained control in the third inning as
Cameron Kittridge blasted a two-run home run to give DSU a 3-1 lead. After Dickinson State chipped away with runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 3-3, Dakota State responded in the bottom half of the fifth.
Hogan launched a solo home run and
Aidan Marsh followed with an RBI single to push the lead to 5-3.
Camaron Haller added insurance in the sixth inning with a solo homer, extending the advantage to 6-3.
However, Dickinson State delivered the decisive blow in the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, Dokes crushed his second home run of the game—a grand slam—to give the Blue Hawks a 7-6 lead they would not relinquish.

Game 2: Dakota State 12, Dickinson State 4 – FINAL
Dakota State responded in dominant fashion in the nightcap, powering past Dickinson State 12-4 behind an offensive explosion and solid pitching.
The Trojans wasted no time, erupting for four runs in the first inning on home runs by Raney (lead-off solo home run) and
Cameron DeMaria (3-run home run). After Dickinson State answered with three runs in the second to cut the lead to 4-3 capped by Ramon Teran's 2-RBI single, Dakota State quickly regained control.
In the bottom of the second, Hogan delivered the biggest swing of the day—a grand slam—to extend the lead to 8-3. The Trojans added three more runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from Haller, and tacked on another run in the eighth to seal the victory.
Dakota State totaled 15 hits in the contest, with multiple players contributing to the offensive surge. The Trojans also smashed four home runs in the game.
