DES MOINES, Iowa – Both Dakota State (S.D.) women's and men's 4 x 800-meter relay teams competed on the first day of the prestigious 116
th annual Drake Relays Thursday afternoon at Bulldog Stadium.
Lindsey Roth,
Valerija Curikova,
Anna Schneider, and
Caitlin Dyer teamed up with a school record 4 x 800-meter relay. They finished with a time of 9 minutes, 29.76 seconds and placed 11
th. They were 4.76 seconds short of hitting NAIA B' national qualifying time.
The previous record was held 13 years ago by Stephanie Uher, Kayla Sveen, Victoria Sopko, and Stephanie Warnke in 2013 with a time of 9 minutes, 35.51 seconds.
The men's squad of
Franklin Johns,
Cody Farland,
Logan Recoy, and
Tyler Nicke posted a time of 7 minutes, 45.95 seconds. They finished ninth in the race and were just 3.95 seconds shy of hitting NAIA B' provisional qualifying time.
Johns, Farland, Recoy, and Nicke posted the 10
th fastest time in the DSU men's outdoor track & field 4 x 800-meter relay school history.
Dakota State continues their action at the Drake Relays Friday with numerous events at Bulldog stadium.
