SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) and Mayville State (N.D.) split the Frontier Conference baseball doubleheader, concluding their regular-season schedule Saturday at Sanford Sports Complex. The Comets rolled to an 18-3 win in the opener before the Trojans responded with a 13-6 victory for Seniors Day victory.
Dakota State is 19-28-1 overall record and concluded the Frontier Conference schedule with 10-14-1 record. Mayville State is 22-22 overall record and 9-15 Frontier Conference record.

Game 1: Mayville State 18, Dakota State 3 – FINAL
Mayville State broke the game open early with a seven-run second inning and never looked back, cruising to an 18-3 victory.
The Comets piled up 18 runs on 18 hits, highlighted by a dominant stretch across the second through fifth innings where they scored 18 straight runs. Dakota State managed just seven hits and was held scoreless until the fifth inning.
Kevin Conway led Mayville State with a big day at the plate, going 3-for-6 with four RBIs, while Tony Villarreal added four RBIs and finished a triple shy of the cycle. Jack McQueen contributed two RBIs, and Zachary Evanochko collected three hits.
Dakota State got RBIs from
Cade Steffen and
Keaton Gale (2), while
Jaxon DeHaan recorded a pair of hits.
On the mound, Tyler Boden earned the win for Mayville State, allowing just one run over six innings while striking out six.
Kellan Johns took the loss for the Trojans after surrendering seven runs in two innings.

Dakota State bounced back in the second game, using a balanced offensive attack and a big eighth inning to secure a 13-6 victory.
The Trojans tallied 13 runs on 11 hits and capitalized on Mayville State's three errors. After trailing 1-0 early, Dakota State scored in five straight innings to take control, including a five-run eighth inning to put the game away.
Aidan Perry led the Trojans with three RBIs, while
Camaron Haller added two RBIs.
Aiden Barfuss and
Brayden Byrum each drove in two runs, and
Aidan Marsh went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
George Hogan scored three times, and
Connor Raney reached base multiple times with three walks and two runs scored.
On the mound,
Ryland Carroll picked up the win, allowing two runs over five innings.
Mayville State was led by Jalen Denton with two RBIs, while Kevin Conway and Jack McQueen each drove in a run.
