Three DSU athletes named inaugural Frontier Conference Baseball All-Tournament Team

Haller, Marsh, and Bear named to Frontier Conference Baseball All-Tournament Team

MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) landed three athletes on the inaugural Frontier Conference Baseball All-Tournament team, announced by the conference office on May 5.  The Trojans were one game shy of advancing to the conference tournament's championship game at Dakota Community Bank and Trust Ballpark in Dickinson, N.D., which was held from April 30 through May 3.

DSU went 2-2 record in the Frontier Conference Baseball Postseason Tournament.  After losing to Mayville State (N.D.) in the opening round on April 30, the Trojans won two straight elimination games – defeated Dickinson State (N.D.) and Bismarck State (N.D.) – before losing to No. 2 ranked Bellevue (Neb.) for a spot to the championship game.

Camaron Haller (catcher), Aidan Marsh (designated hitter), and Braylon Bear were named to the Frontier Conference Baseball All-Tournament Team.

Haller batted .500 at the plate during four tournament games, going 8-for-16 for Dakota State.  He hit two home runs, two doubles, and drove in three runs.  Haller produced an on-base percentage of .579 and a slugging percentage of 1.000. 

He registered a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with 24 total chances, 19 putouts, and five assists.  He also recorded three runners caught stealing. 

Marsh was .385 batting average during the tournament by going 5-of-13 at the plate, highlighted with his four hits as home runs and drove in six runs.  He drew three walks.  He led the team with 1.308 slugging percentage in the tournament.  He added a .529 on-base percentage.

Bryalon Bear appeared in two games on the pitching mound for Dakota State.  He earned a pitching victory in relief versus Bismarck State (N.D.) in the second elimination game.  He tossed five innings and held the Mystics to one run on four hits and registered five strikeouts.

Bear tossed 5 2/3 total innings in the tournament, where he also pitched in the opening round versus Mayville State (N.D.) (2/3 innings with no runs and allowed one hit).  He finished the tournament with 7.94 strikeouts per nine innings and posted an earned run average of 1.59. 

Dakota State finished their season with their sixth straight season with at least 20 wins.
