Roanna Riggins ('Ro'), a senior from San Diego, Calif., was Dakota State's (S.D.) recipient to the 2025-26 Frontier Conference Softball Champions of Character award. The conference's Champions of Character award was awarded on the eve of the softball conference tournament in Dickinson, N.D., on April 29.

Head coaches were asked to select one student athlete per team he or she coaches to receive this prestigious award. The award recognizes student-athletes who best exemplify the five cores' values of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
Riggins, a senior infielder, majors in English education and minor in business at Dakota State University. Head coach
Hunter Lambdin's commented "Roanna [Ro] is one of the best candidates for this award, she is someone who works hard but doesn't play a lot over the course of her four years here at DSU."
"She is someone no matter what is the most supportive, loudest, and caring individual on the team," added Lambdin. "Her presence in the dugout and at practice keeps the team going with energy and positivity."
Dakota State finished their 2025-26 season with seven more wins from prior season.
