ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Dakota State (S.D.) added another NAIA All-America athlete to the list, producing the most single meet national school record for most All-America athletes Friday morning. The third and final day of the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on wet weather conditions at Karl Straus Track, on the campus of NCAA Division I UNC-Asheville.
Oliver Tordsen tossed 49.43 meters (162 feet, 2 inches) on his first discus toss and improved to 49.69 meters (163 feet) on his second toss. He finished his third attempt with 47.93 meters (157 feet, 3 inches).
Tordsen was sixth in the discus semifinals round and advanced to the final round for three more attempts. He fouled on the first attempt in the final round and threw 50.06 meters (164 feet, 3 inches).
Tordsen finished with his best throw of 50.84 meters (166 feet, 9 inches) to claim the NAIA All-America status after a sixth-place finish. He was the top Frontier Conference thrower in the field, edging Dylan Dahlgren of Dickinson State (N.D.) who finished seventh with 50.38 meters (165 feet, 3 inches).
DSU wrapped the three-day national meet with six NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-America athletes, which is the most All-America athletes in a single national meet after surpassing five All-America athletes during the 2013 national meet.
Dakota State finished the 2026 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field National Championships by scoring 19 points, tying the most points in the national meet since 2013. The Trojans also produced the highest place finisher in the national meet, placing 12
th overall out of 65 teams. The previous high was 15
th place during the 2013 national meet.
The NAIA outdoor track & field national meet officially concludes the 2025-26 DSU athletics season.
