MADISON, S.D. – Dakota State (S.D.) will be opening their 2026-27 volleyball slate with three matches in the Paradise Volleyball Classic. The Trojans will also play 22 Frontier Conference matches on their schedule, as well as 12 home matches at DSU Fieldhouse.
Amy Veenhof enters her 18
th season, the longest-tenured and most victories in Dakota State women's volleyball program history. She led the Trojans to double digits wins for the 15
th time in the previous 16 seasons.
The Trojans open their season in Honolulu on Friday, Aug. 14, versus Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) of the Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC) at 7:30 p.m. (Central Time)/2:30 p.m. (Hawaii Time). DSU continues their action with two matches on Saturday, Aug. 15 versus NAIA national tournament's qualifier Oklahoma Wesleyan of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference at 4 p.m. (CT)/11 a.m. (HT).
Dakota State closes the season-opening tournament versus Oregon Tech of the Cascade Collegiate Athletic Conference on Aug. 15 at 11 p.m. (CT)/6 p.m. (HT).
DSU returns to the Midwest region as they head to North Sioux City, S.D., for the annual Siouxland Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 23. The Trojans face a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference in back-to-back matches, versus College of Saint Mary (Neb.) at 2 p.m. and Dordt (Iowa) at 4 p.m.
Dakota State is set to play their home opener against rival Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), who also qualified for the NAIA national tournament last season, on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at DSU Fieldhouse.
The Trojans play their remaining matches in the 22-match Frontier Conference schedule, continuing their home stand on Sept. 4 versus Dickinson State (N.D.) and on Sept. 5 versus Bismarck State (N.D.).
DSU plays their first conference road matches at Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Sept. 11 and at Carroll (Mont.) on Sept. 12.
Four of the next five matches will be at home, starting on Sept. 18 versus Montana Western and on Sept. 19 versus Montana Tech. DSU plays a mid-week contest at their traveling partner Bellevue (Neb.) on Sept. 22 before returning home on Sept. 25 versus Valley City State (N.D.) and on Sept. 26 versus Mayville State (N.D.).
Dakota State closes their first half schedule on the road, visiting MSU-Northern on Oct. 2 and defending Frontier Conference champion Providence (Mont.) on Oct. 3.
The Trojans continue their road action as they open their second half at Bismarck State on Oct. 9 and Dickinson State on Oct. 10.
DSU returns home for their three-match Frontier Conference homestand versus Bellevue on Oct. 14, Carroll on Oct. 16, and Rocky Mountain on Oct. 17.
Dakota State visits Montana Tech on Oct. 23 and Montana Western on Oct. 24 before closing their home schedule versus Providence on Oct. 30 and MSU-Northern on Oct. 31.
DSU plays their final road conference matches at Mayville State on Nov. 4 and Valley City State on Nov. 7.
The conference tournament returns to P.E. Center in Helena, Mont., on Nov. 12-14.Â
The Frontier Conference will award two automatic bids to the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament. The first automatic bid goes to the regular season champion, while the second automatic bid will go to the tournament's champion.Â
The NAIA Opening Round is scheduled for Nov. 21, with the winner advancing to the final site at Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa, on Dec. 2-8.
Dakota State will have a junior varsity team, opening their season versus Dordt's junior varsity team on Aug. 22 in the Siouxland Invitational in North Sioux City. DSU plays their junior varsity home opener versus Dakota Wesleyan on Aug. 26.
DSU will play in the Midland (Neb.) tournament, a pair of home triangular at DSU Fieldhouse, Jamestown (N.D.) triangular, Dakota Wesleyan tournament, and North Dakota State College of Science triangular on their junior varsity schedule. They will also play home-and-away matches with NDSCS, Mayville State, and Iowa Lakes CC.
