The Dakota State University Trojan women's soccer team (0-6-0 overall record) looks for their first win of the season as they play two matches against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Trojans return home Tuesday evening versus Dordt (Iowa) (1-2-1 overall record) at Dan Beacom Track & Field. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m. DSU begins their four-match road swing Thursday evening at Morningside (Iowa) (2-1-1 overall record). The match is set for 7 p.m. at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa.

*Dakota State continues their action against members of the Great Plains Athletic Conference with a pair of matches this week. The Trojans host Dordt (Iowa) Tuesday and Morningside (Iowa) before heading to the state of Missouri for three matches.

LAST TIME OUT
Dakota State continued its road trip with matches against Northwestern (Iowa) and Concordia (Neb.). The Trojans battled Northwestern in Orange City, falling 2-1 before traveling to Seward, Neb., where they dropped a 2-0 decision to Concordia.
Northwestern jumped out to a 2-0 advantage with a pair of goals in the opening nine minutes. Dakota State responded in the 27th minute when
Charli Zimmerman scored her first goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The Trojans put five of their seven shots on goal, while goalkeeper
Ivey Winckler recorded five saves. DSU held Northwestern scoreless for the final 81 minutes but was unable to find the equalizer in the 2-1 loss.
The Trojans followed with a strong defensive first half against Concordia, keeping the Bulldogs off the scoreboard through the opening 45 minutes. Concordia broke the scoreless tie in the 61st minute on a goal from Molli Kalsbeck before Kyana Rios added another in the 73rd minute for the 2-0 final.
Madison Smalley recorded DSU's lone shot on goal, while Winckler made two saves.
Through six matches, Dakota State is 0-6-0 overall. The Trojans have scored three goals this season, with Zimmerman joining
Sydney Quail among DSU's recent goal scorers.
ABOUT DORDT (IOWA)
Dordt enters Tuesday's matchup with Dakota State at 1-2-1 overall. Dordt competes in the Great Plains Athletic Conference and was picked 4th out of 12 teams in the 2026 GPAC preseason coaches' poll. The Defenders are coming off an 11-6-3 record in 2025, finishing 7-2-2 in GPAC play and reaching the GPAC Championship match before falling 1-0 to Hastings (Neb.).
Payton Chitwood is in his second season as Dordt's head coach. He joined the Defenders after serving as the head coach at Warner (Fla.) from 2017-24. Chitwood was named the 2024 NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year and the 2018 Sun Conference Coach of the Year. Before Warner, he served as an assistant coach at Trinity International (Ill.) from 2011-16.
The Defenders are coming off a 3-1 victory over Viterbo (Wis.) at the Defenders Soccer Complex. Joslyn Vander Molen opened the scoring in the 21st minute before Viterbo responded just over a minute later to tie the match. Vander Molen converted a penalty kick in the 36th minute to give Dordt a 2-1 advantage before assisting Jenna Roberts on an insurance goal in the 82nd minute.
Dordt held a 25-8 advantage in shots and a 15-6 edge in shots on goal. Vander Molen finished with two goals and an assist, while goalkeeper Lizzie Graham recorded four saves to earn her first victory as a Defender.
Dordt won the first and only previous meeting in the all-time series 7-0 last season.
ABOUT MORNINGSIDE (IOWA)
Morningside is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference. The Mustangs were picked 2nd in the 12-team 2026 GPAC preseason coaches' poll, receiving five first-place votes. Morningside is coming off a 2025 season in which it earned the No. 1 seed in the GPAC postseason tournament.
Tom Maxon is in his 27th season as Morningside's head women's soccer coach. Maxon started the Mustangs' varsity program in 2000 and has compiled a 206-181-25 career record. He has led Morningside to three NAIA national tournament appearances, most recently in 2015 after the Mustangs won the GPAC tournament championship. Maxon was named the 2013 GPAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year and was also named the 2007 GPAC and NAIA Region III Coach of the Year.
The Mustangs' last match came on Sept. 5, when Morningside earned a 2-1 road victory over Park (Mo.). The two teams played a scoreless opening half before all three goals were scored in the second half. Morningside scored twice to secure the victory. Morningside leads the all-time series 1-0, after defeating Dakota State 4-0 in Madison.
